I'm not going to lie, planning isn't my favorite activity. In the past, I've always packed a bag the night before leaving and double checked to make sure I had my passport. That was the extent of my pre-trip preparation.
When you start to put together a long-term trip there are certain elements that you need to cover (health insurance, moving out of your house, storing your stuff) that require a detailed list. We referred to our list daily, and it felt really good to cross off items after they were completed. Our master list started on a piece of notebook paper and evolved into a multi-tab spreadsheet. I never want to look at it again, but at the same time, it helped us with a pretty seamless transition. |
We wanted to make sure our finances were up to date before departing.
